Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum

The depiction of the characters as twins was a decision made by Tenniel in the original illustrations due to their complimentary nature in the book. Analysis of the characters suggests that they symbolize complimentary yet contrary versions of each other. They are like mirror images, seaming identical in physical attributes, but flipped. “contrariwise”.  They are described as young unruly boys.

Because they are characterized as being immature and having attitude problems, I chose to depict them as hipsters.  Alice is annoyed with their behavior because they are convinced that they know everything and treat Alice like an idiot because she can’t grasp their reality, or un-reality, as they explain with the dreams of the red king.
